Confused About Business Terms & Definitions?

    You’re in the Right Place!

Starting a new business can be tough enough with the oh, I don’t know, MILLIONS of things you have to learn and do and balance and repeat. But then add on the bazillion new acronyms and terms you encounter on the daily and… ‘what the heck does that mean?! ‘ becomes a recurrent thought.

Feeling lost in the whirlwind of entrepreneurship terms and definitions? Ohhh, friend, you are NOT alone! Understanding the language of business is one of those things everyone is expected to just know or pick up, but sometimes it can feel overwhelming — ESPECIALLY in the beginning!

That's where '70+ Business Terms Every Solopreneur Should Know' comes in. Packed with over 60 essential business terms across 10 categories, it's a glossary I put together to act as a helpful resource for new solopreneurs.

    The Solopreneurs’ Glossary

Because Biz Terms Don’t Have to be a Puzzle

    Unraveling Business Terms for Beginners

Creating this guide wasn't just a whim.

It's because business terminology for beginners can be a real head-scratcher. This guide cuts through the fog, offering clear, easy-to-understand definitions with practical examples. This is definitely something I wish I had when I was starting out as a new business owner!

While you and I are most likely familiar with several terms on that list (most people know what SEO is, for example. Or if you worked a corporate job before, you’ve probably heard KPI a bunch), there are also a ton of terms and phrases that were brand to me, and are probably brand new to you.

(Like what PLR is, or what the heck is a DMARC, or what is SERP and why does it sound so cute?).

    How The Glossary Was Made

Piecing Together Business Terms to Know

Curating these business terms to know was a journey! I did deep dives into my own notes, networking groups I’m in, and even asked ChatGPT for idea generation. The aim was to simplify, not to dumb down.

Each term is broken down into bite-sized, digestible explanations, complete with examples that hit home. I wanted to create examples that you can actually relate to, so you’ll find examples for executive coaches, e-commerce shops, tattoo artists, VAs, web designers, copywriters, and more.

The glossary lives in Notion. That seemed the easiest way to share one resource that anyone can access. You’re welcome to bookmark it and come back anytime. And if you have any words that you think SHOULD be on there, shoot me an email! Happy to keep it as an ever-living guide.
