August 2023 Recap

Table of Contents Show

August flew by in a summer haze! It’s been busy for me in continuing education, client outreach, and business development.

    Business

    • Client outreach and work (Neighborhood Business Association website)

    • Created a Tools’ Page listing my most loved biz and web design tools.

    • Newsletter - I’m REALLY enjoying writing these, but frankly I am not doing great at growing my list. My goal was 50 subscribers by the end of August, and I’m only about halfway there. So I need to reconsider my techniques and value offered. ALSO I’ve got some plans in the works to increase conversion rate, and I’ll be working the next few months on that.

    • Added UserWay accessibility widget to my website. If you click the little icon on the bottom right, an accessibility menu will pop up that displays a variety of actions you can take for greater ease.

    • SEO continues to be really fun to learn and experiment with! As of this writing, I rank number one for ‘Squarespace Web Designer Portland’, which is pretty cool, even when you consider search volume is not terribly high. Baby steps.

    Education

    • Squarespace Circle Day - this is a virtual one day summit for Squarespace Circle Members that is packed with talented speakers and great content. I attended sessions on Squarespace UI, coding, client onboarding, and client offboarding.

    • Purchased SquareStylist’s new Standout Foundations course and am OBSESSED. Rache, the teacher, has so much good knowledge on client processes, coding, accessibility, design, and finding your ‘Standout Style’. I’m loving this course.

    • Currently teaching myself Notion for project management and Figma for wireframe design.

    Personal

    • Started running again (outside) and it feels great!

    • Met up with an email subscriber/new friend when she was visiting Portland and had a lovely little chat 😊

    • Took a quick two night road trip to Crater Lake, Diamond Lake, and Umpqua National Forest, Waterfall Road, and Hot Springs, with two of my best friends. Oregon is so good.

    • Currently on a coworking #workcation in Mexico City. #Coworking because a previous event management client of mine and her hubby are renting an airbnb with me, and #workcation because we’re all working remotely together. (It’s quite fun!)
