Squarespace Plans and Pricing: A Complete Guide
Squarespace Plans and Pricing: is Squarespace worth the money? 🤔
Hey hey, busy business owners! Looking to start your very own Squarespace website and asking yourself some questions? 🤔
I’ve heard lots of questions about Squarespace plans, so I wanted I’d answer them here for you.
If you’re wondering ‘does Squarespace have a free plan?’ or ‘how much are Squarespace plans?’ or even ‘Squarespace Personal Plan vs Squarespace Business Plan??’, I gotchu. Just keep reading!
In this article we'll dive into the different Squarespace subscription plans, including the availability of a free plan, the options for all budget sizes, and which one I personally think is best for the majority of service-based business owners.
Does Squarespace have a Free Plan?
Unfortunately, Squarespace does NOT offer a free plan. The cheapest plan is the Personal Plan (more on that below).
However, you can sign up for a free 14 day trial, (affiliate link) and if you're not stoked or it's just not your cup of tea, you won't have to spend a dime.
Squarespace offers four plans:
Personal Plan
Business Plan
Basic Commerce Plan
Advanced Commerce Plan
The Cheapest Squarespace Plan: Personal Plan
When you're ready to publish your website, Squarespace offers several subscription plans to suit your needs.
The most affordable plan is the Personal Plan, starting at $16 per month when billed annually (and I always recommend to pay annually when it’s a much better deal.) This plan is perfect for individuals who want a basic online presence without breaking the bank.
However.
I DON’T recommend the Squarespace personal plan for business owners. It’s quite basic, and doesn’t offer much of the functionality a business of any size would use.
Squarespace Plan Pricing
Squarespace offers a range of subscription plans, each designed to cater to different business requirements.
Here's an overview of the available plans:
1. Personal Plan
As I mentioned above, the Personal Plan is the most affordable option, ideal for individuals looking to establish their online presence or just create a digital calling card.
It’s a little too lackluster, IMO, for anyone who’s running a business of any size, including an entrepreneur or solopreneur.

2. Business Plan
Priced at $23 per month when billed annually, the Business Plan is suitable for most service-based entrepreneurs and small businesses.
It offers additional features such as advanced analytics, fully integrated ecommerce (with $3 transaction fee), ability to add custom code, and the ability to add integrations.
3. Commerce Basic Plan
Starting at $27 per month when billed annually, the Commerce Basic Plan is perfect for businesses looking to sell products online.
It includes features like inventory management, customer accounts, gift cards, integrations, and flexible payment options.
4. Commerce Advanced Plan
The Commerce Advanced Plan, priced at $49 per month when billed annually, is designed for larger e-commerce businesses.
It provides advanced features like abandoned cart recovery, subscriptions, and real-time carrier shipping.
All plans offer 24/7 customer support. Their support has always been terrific when I’ve needed it.
What’s Included in Squarespace Plans?
ALL plans (Personal, Business, Basic Commerce, Advanced Commerce) include:
SEO features
Unlimited bandwidth
30 minutes of video storage
24/7 customer support
Drag-and-drop editor
At least two contributors
Basic website metrics
SSL security
Squarespace AI
Squarespace Extensions
Custom merch
Audience management
Note: this is why Squarespace charges an annual fee, similar other no-code platforms like Wix and Showit.
With platforms like WordPress, there is no fee, but you have to figure a lot of this stuff out on your own, and then figure out how maintain it, and that is a Herculean task for a lot of busy business owners!
Squarespace Business Plans ALSO include:
Professional email from Google
Complete customization with CSS and Javascript
Promotional pop-ups and banners
Fully integrated ecommerce
Transaction fees 3%
Sell unlimited products
Checkout on your domain
Customer accounts
And e-commerce plans include all of the above, plus:
Basic E-Commerce Plan
Point of sale
Product reviews
Advanced merchandising features
Sell on Facebook & Instagram
Limited availability labels
Advanced E-Commerce Plan
Abandoned cart recovery
Sell subscriptions
Advanced shipping
Advanced discounts
Commerce APIs
So — What is the Best Squarespace Plan?
It depends on your needs, but for the majority of new business owners starting out, I recommend the business plan.
HERE’S WHY:
1. E-commerce Abilities
The Squarespace Business Plan includes basic e-commerce (charging a 3% transaction fee). With this plan, you can move to digital products from service, or even accept donations.
If you’re planning to scale up big time, you can always upgrade your plan to the e-commerce basic or e-commerce advanced plans. (transaction fees are waived with both of these).
2. 3rd Party Integrations
The Business plan also allows you to easily integrate with popular 3rd party tools like Gmail and Mailchimp. This means you can streamline your processes and connect with your customers using the tools you already know and use.
3. Analytics
With the Business plan, you'll gain access to advanced conversion metrics in Squarespace's analytics. These valuable metrics help you track how visitors are converting on your goals, whether it's filling out a contact form, booking a service, or joining your mailing list.
4. Marketing Tools
When it comes to marketing, the Business plan and above has useful features. With promotional pop-ups (if you choose to use them), mobile information bars, and announcement bars, you can more easily attract your audience's attention and build your business.
Choosing the right plan depends on your unique business goals and needs. Whether you're a solopreneur or a thriving online store, Squarespace has you covered with its versatile pricing options.
